"Kejriwal's Locked iPhone: The ED's Apple Conundrum"

top-news

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigating Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s case has reportedly approached Apple seeking help in accessing his iPhone, according to sources. The ED’s attempt to access Kejriwal’s iPhone was unsuccessful as it required a password. Kejriwal’s phone is seen as crucial for gaining insights into AAP’s election strategy and alliances.

During questioning, Kejriwal mentioned using the same phone for about a year and indicated that data from his phone would shed light on AAP’s pre-election strategies. The ED confiscated four mobile phones during his arrest but could not recover electronic evidence from his personal computers or desktops.

Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot was also questioned for approximately five hours regarding a money-laundering investigation related to the excise policy of the AAP government. Gahlot, part of the Group of Ministers (GoM) involved in formulating the excise policy, cooperated with the ED during questioning.

The excise case involves alleged corruption and money laundering in the development and execution of Delhi’s excise policy for 2021-22. The ED’s investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is ongoing, following recommendations from Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor and CBI involvement.

AAP leaders, including Kejriwal, have consistently denied allegations, claiming they are politically motivated by the BJP-led Centre to tarnish AAP’s image.
